Junior School Handicrafts and Compost
The ‘School Enterprise Challenge’ an initiative
of UK based NGO ‘Teach a Man to Fish’ organization provides the windows of
opportunities for developing the entrepreneurship competencies to bring fore
the business ideas of grade 11 and 12 students.
The business team gathered at the school for the
first fundraising event on Saturday, August 6, 2016 where we sold neckpieces,
photo-frames, cloth bags, rakhis and compost. The handicrafts were beautifully
made by the students of classes Montessori, First and Second. All the products
were made from waste material like CDs, wedding cards, old T-shirts etc. which
added to our green initiative. Our customers, mainly parents and teachers,
appreciated our noble cause and we received a great response. For every
purchase of INR 100 we gave a free envelope and asked the parents to select the
same.
Through this event we developed various skills
that will practically help us in life. While selling the various products, we
dealt will customers, told them about our enterprise and learnt the importance
of communication skills. While maintaining the cash counter, we improved our accuracy,
speed while making the bills and most importantly working with precision. The
School Enterprise Challenge gave us an insight of the functioning of a
business. It was a great experience for us and the qualities gained will guide
us in the future.

bags, compost and all other products were completely sold out. In the end when
we sat down to count our collection, we felt proud and delighted for all our
profit will be used for setting up a library in an orphanage, providing solar
lamps in a village and providing musical instruments to the visually
handicapped. The SEC gave me an opportunity to enhance my abilities, taught me
the importance of team work and revamped my communication and management skills.
